Safe Food Farming™ is not a certification process but a standard. All farmers choosing to contract with Hawaii Healing Food™ will also be required to transition towards Organic or Biodynamic certification. The Company is committed to assisting farmers, through a non-profit entity in formation, to meet the Safe Food Farming™ standards and to transition to organic or Biodynamic certification. This assistance will become available once the non-profit is operative.
WHY IS OUR POI UNIQUE?
Hawaii Healing Food™ poi is unlike other poi products on the market, fresh or dried.
- Our dehydration process is new and unique. Most dehydration processes lose substantial color, taste and nutrients. Not ours! Not only do our products’ vivid colors and flavors remain but our nutrients as well (94% - 98% nutrient retention compared with 30% in most dehydration processes).
- Beneficial bacteria retention for health! Our patented, low heat, quick drying time, process retains the beneficial and precious poi cultures. Other inferior and high heat processes may kill most, if not all, of the poi cultures.
- 100% pure. Our poi retains its beneficial enzymes and fermentation metabolites and cultures.
- Safe Food Farming™! Our proprietary Poi is made from taro grown using Safe Food Farming™ methods that meet or exceed organic standards. Most other taro produced in Hawaii for poi consumption is grown using herbicides.
